RPL installation error "There was an error uploading this file to the server"
Posted by on 27 March 2016 05:57 AM

One of the root causes for the error message "There was an error uploading this file to the server" is that the PHP upload limit on the server is set to less than the RPL Package size. As result, the server will prevent uploading files on it.

You can confirm whether the root cause of issue is related to the PHP upload limit by following these steps:

  1. Login into your Joomla back-end.
  2. Go to the "System" section and select "System Information" from the top menu.
  3. Navigate to the "PHP Information" tab.
  4. Search for "upload_max_filesize" and check the value under the "Local Value" column. This should be bigger than the RPL package size

If the value is bigger than the RPL package size, then there is another cause, so please open a new support ticket including your Joomla and FTP access information so that our support team can look further into the issue.
